Welcome to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's office is responsible for law enforcement, investigations, and detentions within Elbert County, Colorado. The Elbert County Sheriff's office works with community members and leaders to provide protection and service to our community as a whole. By handling over 5,000 calls for service from the resident's of Elbert County as well as providing mutual aid to other agencies and counties, the Sheriff's Office protects and improves the quality of life for the citizens of the county by reducing crime.

The Elbert County Sheriff's office works with individuals, groups, agencies, businesses, schools, and others to identify problems and implement solutions. The Sheriff's office welcomes your input and offers their resources to help keep Elbert County a desirable community to visit or reside in.

Elbert County covers 1,852 square miles and has approximately 22,000 residents. The Elbert County Sheriff's Office has primary jurisdiction over the following areas/cities:


• Unincorporated areas of Elbert County
• Elizabeth
• Kiowa
• Simla
