Colorado Victims Right's Amendment



Crime victims have certain rights. If you are a victim of one of the crimes listed below, your rights are guaranteed by the Colorado Constitution:

• Any crime which includes an act of domestic violence
• Murder 1st and 2 Degree
• Manslaughter
• Criminally Negligent Homicide and Vehicular Homicide
• Assault 1st-3rd Degree, Vehicular Assault
• Menacing
• Kidnapping
• Sex Assault, Sex Assault on a child/POT, Sexual Exploitation on children
• Robbery
• Incest
• Child Abuse
• Crimes against at-risk adults or juveniles
• Careless driving Resulting in Death
• Failure to stop at the scene of an accident that results in death
• Stalking • Any intimidation of, retaliation against, or tampering with a victim or witness
• Ethnic Intimidation
• Indecent Exposure
• Any Criminal attempt, conspiracy, criminal solicitation, or accessory involving any of the crimes specified above
• Violation of a Protection Order involving a Sex Assault

If all local efforts to obtain your rights have failed, you may request assistance from the Governor's Victims Coordinating Committee. Even if you weren't the direct victim, remember that people who care about victims often become co-victims emotionally.
