ELBERT COUNTY –
On July 14th at approximately 7:30 PM, deputies from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting in the 44000 block of Comanche Creek Road.
A large rodeo event was taking place on a property in that area, and between 1000 and 1500 people were in attendance at the time of the incident.
Investigators say that a physical altercation broke out and one of the attendees pulled out a gun and started shooting. It is unclear at this time if anyone was struck by the gunfire, although two parties who were working at the event were treated for minor injuries related to the physical altercation.
Two males were contacted leaving the event and were taken into custody for charges related to the shooting. There is no threat to public safety at this time. The identities of the males are not being released at this time.
As this is an ongoing investigation, there is limited information that can be released at this time.
